Noun. ouanga (plural ouangas) A voodoo talisman that houses a spirit.

There is a ghost story that stems from the Mancha Wetlands of Louisiana. The story tells of the spirit of a voodoo priestess that haunts the swamps.

In life, the once voodoo healer was said to have made an infamously terrifying prediction that she was going to die and take her whole town with her. On October 29th 1916, the day of her funeral, as her casket was being lowered into the ground, a hurricane swept in, killing nearly 300 people and almost completely destroying the town in the process.

It had seemingly come from nowhere. The box your participant holds, and its contents, were said to have belonged to her.

This being said, this doesn’t necessarily have to have such a dark narrative!

Those that knew the priestess have said in life, she taught how voodoo was about healing and connections, not curses. Dispelling the tainted Hollywood portrayal. And perhaps the words she said that fateful day, were simply a warning.

This is a complete stage or parlor piece that can fit straight into your show. if you’ve ever wanted to perform a PK touch routine then this box will make it easy for you, by doing the hard work via a hands free remote control!

A brief outline of the routine in it’s simplest form…

A participant is called onto the stage, she is asked to hold the box before its unveiled what’s inside. They are asked to close their eyes and told they’re going to feel a series of touches. The performer touches their head, shoulder arm etc to demonstrate this. They are then told not to react, but in a moment they’re going to feel a heartbeat. The performer taps them in the manner a heartbeat would pulse. The participant is told when they next feel this heartbeat to raise their free hand in the air. Now the performer taps out the same heartbeat rhythm on a second participant, amazingly the participant holding the box raises their arm. This can be repeated as many times as you like and is of course just the basic outline of a routine.

After this the participant opens the box to reveal a voodoo doll, they are asked to take a seat at a table on the stage/parlor. The performer again asks the participant to close their eyes and again lets them know they’re going to feel pressure and demonstrates by applying pressure to various parts of their body. With the participants eyes closed the performer removes the pin and burns the paper containing the written name. The performer asks the participant to raise their arm each time they feel anything and to lower it when they can’t. The pin is then placed into various parts of the doll. Each time the pin is in place the participant indeed raises their arm, and when the pin is removed they lower it, proving there is a connection with the doll. The performer can do this standing over the other side of the room towards the end of the routine if they so wish. To conclude the performer, holding the doll, is seemingly able to write down the name of the person the participant was thinking of!

For the second phase you will learn a technique that Peter Turner has performed all over the world to phenomenal effect. A method originally by Derren Brown that Peter has expanded on in great detail and can now be used with the voodoo doll as the perfect prop. You will also be taught a billet switch when puncturing the written name with a pin. On top of that you will also receive a PDF with a close up routine utilising the doll that I put together some years ago.
